Stichting Dienst Landbouwkundig Onderzoek (DLO Foundation) is part of Wageningen University & Research Centre (Wageningen UR). DLO consists of a number of specialized institutes for strategic and applied research in the domain of healthy food and living environment. Applied Plant Research (PPO), Plant Research International (PRI) and Alterra are the divisions of DLO that are participating in iSQAPER
PRI specializes in strategic research. Thanks to a sophisticated combination of knowledge and experience in genetics and reproduction, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, crop protection, crop ecology and agro-ecosystems, PRI offers a unique range of perspectives for government and industry. It services the entire agro-production chain with scientific products, from the DNA level to production system concepts.
Alterra offers expertise across many disciplines related to the green world around us and the sustainable use of our living environment. Aspects of our environment that Alterra focuses on include soil, water, the atmosphere, the landscape and biodiversity ‒ on a global scale as well as regionally.
PPO conducts research through co-innovations with partners from the different agricultural sectors, sciences, industry and government. Together with clients PPO analyses questions regarding farm and crop management and translates these into applied research and development programs. The research work of PPO mostly focusses on the farm and field level.
The teams of PPO, PRI and Alterra involved in iSQAPER are specialized in soil research and consists of general agronomists and specialists in soil pest and diseases, soil tillage, organic agriculture, nutrient management, modeling in soil climate relations and water management.
